Stephanie Stouffer lives in the quiet and beauty of rural Vermont, a place which nourishes her and her art. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, and for ten years was a designer with Hallmark Cards. There she received extensive experience designing for the social expression and decorative accessories markets. Since 1983 she has been working freelance, and her art is licensed on many products, including Rugs, Tapestries, Needlepoint Pillows, Stoneware, and Caspari Cards. Many of these, plus original art and prints, are on display in her gallery, and have been best sellers both here and abroad.

Stephanie’s designs, frequently incorporating animals and flowers, are warm, whimsical, and painted in a palette of exquisite colors. She can make traditional symbols seem fresh and new with her decorative flair and rich imagination. She has gained a reputation as an innovative artist who is a leader in design trends.

“In all my art I strive to seek new design challenges, to know myself, and to bring delight to others.”

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t like to take pictures. As a small child I once took a whole roll of 24 pictures of cactus with my Kodak Instamatic camera! Times have changed and thank goodness for digital because I still take a lot of photographs. I think part of the reason I enjoy it, is that “preservation of the moment”. Time is so fleeting and this is a way to hold on those moments and enjoy and reflect back. I hope others can enjoy my photographs and take time to see nature’s beauty.

Barbara J. Pafume is an awardwinning artist who studied at the Art Institute in Chicago, Silvermine Guild in Connecticut, and with several well-known artists working in oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel. She developed her realistic style over the years to capture dramatic and poignant moments in nature and in life. Her commitment to restoring and saving the environment is reflected in the drama and passion of everyday scenes, and in her sense of color and contrast.

Barbara also teaches workshops and classes privately and for several art organizations, and has done so in Illinois, Connecticut, Georgia and Maine as well as in Vermont. She frequently has been invited to speak on her research in creativity to many businesses, as well as private and non-profit organizations. Although she now exhibits mostly watercolors and pastels, she also paints and teaches oil, acrylic and drawing.

She has had many solo exhibits and her work is hung in public and private collections in many Vermont locations, across the US, and in Europe. Her home and studio is in North Shrewsbury, VT.

When I allow myself to see the world not as it is but as it speaks to me, I’m compelled to find form for these images, first in my imagination and then physically. It’s not a choice – it’s an innermost command that must be obeyed but always yields an exciting adventure. Creating art keeps me in the moment. It keeps my mind open to constant revelations that pour in as I am ready to accept them.

The vibrant colors and textures of fiber have always sung out to me. It’s the medium for my “fabric paintings”: I love dyeing it, painting it, cutting it, tearing it, stamping it, fusing it and embellishing it. The final step, the quilting of the surface through “thread painting”, brings a layered dimensional depth to the artwork. I delight in combining the technical skills of a master quilt-maker with the soul of an artist. My pieces are representational but not literal – not needing to answer to reality. I visit reality occasionally but have no desire to live there. To me the challenge of life is to recognize and claim our individual creative gifts. The joy of life is to live them.

His paintings are direct and rich, with clear color, expressing his passion for light and life.

I create art as part of my desire to help bring something of aesthetic beauty to the world. My paintings are about joy, about expressing the excitement I feel when I see light falling on an autumnal tree or the beauty of a newly opened flower. They are about my curiosity and intrigue with objects, old and new; they are about those things that inspire me, that give me a reason to get out of bed to see what the world has in store for that day. It is my hope that the viewer of my work will be inspired by what they see, that through one of my paintings their day might be somehow lifted, changed, enlightened or even considered “lighter.”

I enjoy many artistic hobbies. I have quilted for 10 + years starting with traditional piecing and now I am interested more in art quilts. I also paint in a variety of mediums but mostly watercolor. The basic techniques such as value, center of interest, use of color are the same in quilting and painting. My goal is to continue taking lessons in both fields using what I have learned to create. I am a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor society and a member of Maple Leaf Quilters. I live in Rutland Vermont and work in a family business.

In collaboration with Judith Carruthers, I have written a series of children’s books called Tucker Tales. The books explore the life of a retriever and his adventures as he learns elementary life skills. Each story begins or ends with a unique twist that enhances the tale and endears the reader to Tucker’s world as a canine apprentice in life. The books are available on Amazon. com. A portion of the profits will be donated to dysautonomia research, migraine research, and wildfire fighter support.

Capturing a moment of sunlight with embracing shadows is pure joy. Portraits of animals and their human companions are favorite subjects. Farm landscapes, wildlife and Mother Earth’s vistas of woodland, meadows, waterways and seas; mesmerize me as I walk throughout them.
